Position Summary:
The Manager of Promotions and Single Tickets is a full-time Marketing staff position responsible for developing audiences and achieving single ticket sales goals for all Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra concerts and presented performances at Powell Symphony Hall. The Promotions and Single Ticket Manager plans and implements ticket sales strategies, develops pricing and promotions as well as tactical plans required to maintain and grow audiences for the SLSO concerts and presented performances at Powell Symphony Hall.
Essential Functions Include:
• Achieve organizational revenue goals from Single Ticket Sales
o The position is responsible for managing all aspects of the marketing function to drive sales, including sales goal planning, tracking, pricing recommendations and adjustments, as well as reporting.
• Manage the Single Ticket Marketing/Promotions needs
o The position includes responsibility for developing efficient media and direct mail campaigns, negotiating and tracking all value-add, planning and implementing special projects and promotions. Additional responsibilities include researching potential programs/events for the SLSO as well as working with the internal creative department and outside agencies to maintain all production calendars. Event staffing and administrative duties as required to manage the business.
Position Requires:
• Broad knowledge of advertising and direct mail strategies, as well as ticket-based entertainment sales involving extensive theoretical knowledge equivalent to a complete four-year college or university education, preferably in the Arts or Business marketing, advertising or communications field
• Minimum 4 years of proven success in a marketing role
• Strategic thinker who has the ability to link products with opportunities and develop creative solutions that meet the organizations long-range goals
• An established network of professional contacts within the local advertising and marketing industry.
• Considerable judgment to work independently toward results
• Exceptional attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to negotiate with outside vendors in a professional and persuasive manner
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a comfort level with public speaking
• Excellent interpersonal skills that reflect ability to motivate others toward reaching organizational objectives
• Knowledge of classical music and the symphony field preferred. An appreciation for classical music required
Ability to:
• Apply principles to solve problems and deal with multiple variables.
• Project a polished and professional image that positively reflects on the organization
• Communicate with internal and external contacts with a high degree of persuasion and diplomacy
• Work with confidential data
• Use a personal computer, with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and Internet
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating with internal and external contacts in a manner using considerable tact required to achieve results.
